Men's Cross Country Gets Ninth-Place Finish, All-Region Runner

Julian Morrison made his final meet for the Hope College men's cross country team a memorable one, earning all-region honors and helping the Flying Dutchmen to a Top-10 finish.

The senior from Aurora, Illinois (Waubonsie Valley HS) finished 30th at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Hope College hosted on Saturday at West Ottawa Golf Club.

Morrison clocked an 8K time to 25 minutes, 31.9 seconds to lead the Flying Dutchmen to a ninth-place total of 323 points.

"All-region for Julian and a Top 10 finish, which is really good for the team," Hope coach Mark Northuis said. "We beat the team who beat us last week at conference (in Trine), which was exciting for us. Overall, we felt we ran very well."

Junior Ben Pederson of Mount Prospect, Illinois (Prospect) scored 39th for the Flying Dutchmen with a run of 25:52.1.

Junior Jacob Jansen of Johnston, Iowa (Johnston) came in 65th at 26:15.8.

Senior Tyler Brinks of Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern) placed 90 at 26:38.5.

Senior Nicholas Salomon of Troy, Michigan (Detroit Jesuit) rounded out Hope's scoring in 99th at 26:41.8.

Others placing for Hope were sophomores Ryan Holman of Holmen, Wisconsin (Holmen) in 110th at 26:50.7 and Nathan Schloff of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian) in 157th at 27:46.2.
