The sophomore from Holland, Michigan (Hamilton HS) recorded a personal-best time of 25 minutes, 21 seconds to lead the Flying Dutchmen at the Grand Rapids Community College Invitational on Saturday at Prairie Wolf Park in Caledonia, Michigan.
Slayton surpassed his previous best for an 8K run by more than a minute. He finished 24th out of 148 runners.
Slayton helped Hope place seventh out of 13 teams.
This is the first time Slayton has been named MIAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
