Welcome to tonight's nonleague game between the Hope College and Rochester College women's basketball teams. The nationally ranked Flying Dutch enter with a 3-0 overall record, while the Warriors are 5-6 overall. Hope won the last meeting between the two teams 92-41 on February 10.
Hope is coming off a Tip-Off Tournament championship at DeVos Fieldhouse this weekend. The Flying Dutch defeated Finlandia 95-47 on Friday and Franklin, Indiana 85-61 on Saturday. Junior forward Madison Geers was selected Tournament MVP, while senior guard Angelique Gaddy and sophomore center Francesca Buchanan made the all-tournament team.
Francesca Buchanan is the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played through November 19. The sophomore center from Grant, Michigan (Sparta HS) is selected for the first time. She scored a career-high 27 points thanks to a DeVos Fieldhouse-record 12 field goals in the victory over No. 21 Wheaton, Illinois on Tuesday and totaled 18 points and 10 rebounds vs. Finlandia and 11 points and eight rebounds vs. Franklin.
Through three games, five Hope players are scoring in double figures: Francesca Buchanan 18.7, Angelique Gaddy at 12.0, Madison Geers at 11.0, junior guard Tyra Smith at 11.7 and senior forward Mandy Traversa at 10.0.
Rochester dropped its last game on Friday to Division II Grand Valley State University 86-46. The Warriors are looking to end a four-game losing streak. Junior guard Maddy Valco tops Rochester at 13.3 points per game.
Senior forward Elizabeth Perkins is a decorated two-sport athlete who also starred in soccer this fall. She was named a College Sports Information Directors of American First Team Academic All-American in soccer this fall as well as Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association MVP. She was tied for the most goals in Division III with a school-record 25 heading into the NCAA Tournament for the MIAA champion Flying Dutch.

The Flying Dutch are playing over the Thanksgiving weekend this year. They have a nonleague game at Cornerstone University on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Grand Rapids.
The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener is right around the corner for the Flying Dutch. Hope hosts Calvin on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at DeVos Fieldhouse. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m. for the varsity game and the 5:30 p.m. junior varsity game.
