Francesca Buchanan's game-high 20 points, Mandy Traversa's career-high 13 rebounds and Angelique Gaddy's career-high 10 assists powered the seventh-ranked Hope College women's basketball team to a 67-55 win at Adrian on Saturday.
The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association-leading Flying Dutch won for the sixth consecutive time to raise their record to 17-1 overall and 9-0 in league play.
Buchanan hit the 20-point mark for the third time this season and the fourth time in her career. The sophomore center from Grant, Michigan (Sparta HS) scored 12 points in the first half to help Hope build a 31-19 halftime lead.
Traversa pulled down of her game-high seven rebounds during the first half. The senior forward from Winfield, Illinois (Wheaton North) also contributed nine points for the game.
Six of Gaddy's assists came during the second half. The senior guard from Caledonia, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian) matched her collegiate best for assists from a December 21 win vs. Albion at DeVos Fieldhouse. Gaddy also totaled seven points and four rebounds.
Junior guard Madison Geers of Scottville, Michigan (Mason County Central) chipped in 12 points against Adrian (9-8, 4-5 MIAA).
The Flying Dutch overcame 21 turnovers — their second-most in a game this season.
Hope's next game is Wednesday, Jan. 25 at fourth-place Albion.
