Women's Basketball Flexes Depth In Win Vs. Great Lakes Christian

The nationally ranked Hope College women's basketball team got everyone involved and marched to a 97-42 nonleague win against Great Lakes Christian on Wednesday at DeVos Fieldhouse.

All 14 Flying Dutch players who took the court scored — led by forward Francesca Buchanan. The junior from Grant, Michigan (Sparta HS) recorded her third consecutive double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Hope improved to 6-0 overall heading into Saturday's showdown at fellow unbeaten Albion (5-0). Tipoff is 3 p.m.

The Flying Dutch snapped a 12-12 tie with 3 ½ minutes remaining in the first quarter with a 13-0 run to finish the quarter.

Junior guard Victoria Swift of LaGrange, Illinois (Lyons Township) and freshman guard Kenedy Schoonveld of Zeeland, Michigan (Holland Christian) combined for 10 points during the first quarter. They each finished with 13 points.

Sophomore guard Celina King of Cincinnati, Ohio (Mount Notre Dame) chipped in a career-high 12 points against Great Lakes Christian (0-11).
