Hope College forward Francesca Buchanan has been named to the Great Lakes Region First Team by D3hoops.com.
The junior from Grant, Michigan (Sparta HS) is receiving the award for the second consecutive season. She is now eligible for All-America consideration.
Buchanan is one of five first-team selections and 15 all-region honorees from the Great Lakes Region.
Buchanan started and played in 30 games this season for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association regular-season co-champion and tournament champion Flying Dutch, who finished with a 29-2 overall record and advanced to the national quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Tournament. She missed one game due to an injury.
Buchanan topped Hope in scoring and rebounding this season.
In 21.1 minutes per game, Buchanan averaged 12.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
Buchanan shot 50.5 percent from the field (152-301) and 62.9 percent from the foul line (78-124).
This season, Buchanan became the 15th Flying Dutch player to reach 1,000 career points. She has 1,057 points in 85 games.
Buchanan grabbed a career-high 239 rebounds this season.
