The Hope College women's basketball team plays Wartburg College tonight in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. This is the first meeting between the two schools. The Flying Dutch are seeking to advance to the sectional round for the 10th time in team history. Hope is 9-3 all-tine in second-round games and has won its last two: Washington-St. Louis in 2018 and Thomas More (Kentucky) in 2017.

Hope is 39-17 all-time in NCAA Tournament play — a 69.6 winning percentage. The Flying Dutch are 14-6 in NCAA Tournament first-round games after last night's victory against Wheaton. Hope has made seven consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and 13 postseason trips in the past 14 seasons.
The Flying Dutch are aiming for their third consecutive trip to sectional play and their fourth appearance in the past five seasons.
TIES TO WARTBURG
Even though Hope and Wartburg have not met on the baketball court, there are ties between the two schools. Hope baseball coach Stu Fritz is a 1988 graduate of Wartburg College where he lettered in football and baseball. In 1998, his alma mater honored him as Wartburg's Alumni Coach of the Year. Fritz has guided the Flying Dutchmen to a 547-424 record over 25 baseball seasons. Fritz currently is a vice-president with the American Baseball Coaches Association.
