The Women's Basketball Coaches Association recently announced that the Flying Dutch have been named to the 2018-19 WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for NCAA Division III.

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year college teams with GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. In 2018-19, the Hope team achieved a 3.546 GPA and ranked 24th on the WBCA Division III list. There are more than 440 schools in Division III. Shenandoah University of Virginia topped the list with a 3.764.

"I love the diversity of majors on our team from business to engineering to nursing to pre-health professions to social work to education," said head coach Brian Morehouse. "This award is further proof that these women win on and off the court with their play, community service, and focus on academics. It's what we aspire to be as a program and this recognition is another way to publicly be able to say to them, job well done as a team!"

This is the seventh time team history the Flying Dutch has made the WBCA Academic Top 25 Honor Roll for Division III. Hope was previously honored in 2014, 2013, 2012, 2010, 2009, and 2000. The 2018-19 season is the 24th in which the WBCA has compiled the Top 25 honor rolls.

Last season, the Flying Dutch finished with a 24-5 record, finished second in the MIAA, and made it to the second-round of the NCAA Tournament.

"I'm grateful to the WBCA for providing a platform for these student-athletes to be recognized," said Morehouse. "The WBCA is doing great things for our game."
