Women's Golf Teams Up with Calvin to Defeat Two CCIW Foes

Ariana Stewart poses for a portrait A unique event saw two Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivals team up to defeat two College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) rivals on Saturday in women's golf.

The MIAA's Hope College and Calvin College took on CCIW foes Wheaton College and North Central College at The Ravines Golf Club in Saugatuck in a competition in which team scores consisted of the lowest eight rounds from both squads combined. In doing so, Hope and Calvin defeated North Central and Wheaton, 714 strokes to 754 strokes.

The MIAA team was led by Hope senior Ariana Stewart of Kalamazoo (Comstock HS), pictured, and Calvin's Emma Dykhouse who both shot rounds of 87.

Maggie Russel of North Central shot the event's lowest round of 86.

The Flying Dutch return to action on Tuesday, April 16, back at The Ravines for the first round of the MIAA NCAA Division III Championship qualifier. Tee time is 1 p.m.
