Hope Women's Lacrosse Downs Defiance For Season's First Win

Senior Molly Greenfield of Georgetown, Texas (Georgetown HS), scored four goals to lead the Hope College women's lacrosse team in a 12-2 win at Defiance, Ohio, on Friday.

The Flying Dutch gave coach Kim Vincent her first win at Hope.

Hope jumped to a 3-0 lead during the first half and never trailed. The Flying Dutch received goals from freshman Lauren Syverson of Northville, Michigan (Northville HS), and Greenfield on free position shots and Reinie Thomas of Portage, Michigan (Portage Central HS) unassisted.

Freshman Emily Deane of Rochester Hills, Michigan (Adams HS), chipped in two goals for Hope. The Flying Dutch outscored Defiance 8-1 during the second half.

Freshman Michaela Biegner of Hillsdale, Michigan (Hillsdale HS), made three saves in goal.

Hope (1-4 overall) returns to action on Saturday with a 6 p.m. exhibition against Western Michigan's club team.
