The Hope College women's lacrosse team opened MIAA play on a winning note, defeating host Saint Mary's 14-10 on Wednesday in Notre Dame, Indiana, with a balanced scoring attack.
Four different players scored three goals or more to lead the Flying Dutch to their second consecutive win overall.
Senior Molly Greenfield of Georgetown, Texas (Georgetown HS), topped Hope with four goals.
Three players netted three goals apiece for the Flying Dutch: junior Linnea Ridlen of Western Springs, Illinois (Lyons Township HS), sophomore midfielder Dana Kym of Libertyville, Illinois (Libertyville HS) and freshman Grace Ahlgrim of Libertyville, Illinois (Libertyville HS).
Senior Makenzie Bortell of Montague, Michigan (Montague HS), also scored.
Freshman goalie Michaela Biegner of Hillsdale, Michigan (Hillsdale HS), made 13 saves.
Hope (2-4 overall) returns to action on Saturday when the Flying Dutch play a 1 p.m. match at Alma.
