Hope Women's Lacrosse Downs Olivet, Sets Up First-Place Showdown

Sophomore Dana Kym of Libertyville, Illinois (Libertyville HS), scored a match-high five goals as the Hope College women's lacrosse team won 13-11 at Olivet on Tuesday.

The Flying Dutch (6-6 overall) earned an opportunity to play for first place in the MIAA on Thursday at league-leading Calvin. With a 5-1 MIAA record, Hope is tied for second place with Albion.

Kym scored twice during the final 1 minute, 44 seconds of the first half to give the Flying Dutch a 7-3 halftime lead. She added three more goals during the second half.

Seniors Makenzie Bortell of Montague, Michigan (Montague HS) and Molly Greenfield of Georgetown, Texas (Georgetown HS), chipped in two goals apiece, as did freshman Erin Caton of Rochester Hills, Michigan (Pontiac Notre Dame Prep).

Freshman goalie Michaela Biegner of Hillsdale, Michigan (Hillsdale HS), made 11 saves for the Flying Dutch.

Hope plays at Calvin Thursday at 5 p.m.
