Hope Women's Lacrosse Downs Olivet, Matches Longest Win Streak

The Hope College women's lacrosse team reached a school record in goals during a 23-2 Senior Day win against Olivet on Saturday at Van Andel Stadium.

The Flying Dutch (6-3 overall) remained unbeaten in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play with their fifth league win.

Hope's five-match win streak matches the longest in the team's varsity history between April 13-27, 2013.

Freshmen Allison Darnell of Farmington Hills, Michigan (North Farmington HS) and Hannah VanAlst of Clio, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic HS) collected four goals apiece to lead the Flying Dutch. 

Eleven different players scored for the Flying Dutch, which built a 14-2 halftime lead.

Six more had multi-goal matches: senior Abigale Cassella of Okemos, Michigan (Okemos HS), junior Reinie Thomas of Portage, Michigan (Portage Central HS) junior Alexandra Webb of Woodland Hills, California (Calabasas HS), sophomore Erin Caton of Rochester Hills, Michigan (Notre Dame Prep), sophomore Emily Deane of Rochester Hills, Michigan (Rochester Adams HS), and freshman Madeleine Shupe of Hinsdale, Illinois (Hinsdale Central HS).

Hope closes the regular season with three MIAA matches next week, beginning with a Tuesday, April 26 match at fellow league unbeaten Albion at 7 p.m.
