Women's Lacrosse Edged By Unbeaten Illinois Tech

Emily Deane and the Hope College women's lacrosse team went back and forth with unbeaten Illinois Tech until the final minute before falling 10-9 Wednesday night at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

Illinois Tech (4-0 overall) scored the final two goals of the nonleague match, including the go-ahead one with 3 minutes, 44 seconds remaining.

Hope (1-2) was led in scoring by Deane, pictured. The junior from Rochester Hills, Michigan (Adams HS) contributed a season-high three goals, all in the first half to help the Flying Dutch rally from a 5-1 halftime deficit to take a 6-5 halftime lead.

In the second half, senior Reinie Thomas of Portage, Michigan (Portage Central) scored twice in a span of 17 seconds to give the Flying Dutch a 9-8 lead with 5:11 remaining.

Thomas finished with two goals, as did teammates Dana Kym of Libertyville, Illinois (Libertyville) and Alexandra Webb of Woodland Hills, California (Calabasas).

Hope returns to action on Monday, March 20 with a match at Colorado Springs.
