Women's Lacrosse Heats Up On Cold Night, Tops Illinois Tech

Freshman Jane Ragains and the Hope College women's lacrosse team heated up quickly on a cold night Tuesday — powering to a 16-5 victory against Illinois Tech.

The Flying Dutch scored 12 first-half goals en route to their second win in as many tries this season.

Ragains, a freshman from Western Springs, Illinois (Lyons Township HS), pictured, registered three of her game-high four goals and both of her assists before halftime.

Hope built a 12-2 lead during the first half behind goals from eight different players.

Junior Bailey Berberich of Clarendon Hills, Illinois (Hinsdale Central), freshman Carly Pieri of Alto, Michigan (Caledonia), and freshman Paige Rosenbrook of East Lansing, Michigan (Haslett) all scored both of their goals before halftime.

The Flying Dutch outshot Illinois Tech (1-2) by a 35-12 margin and forced 23 turnovers.

Freshman goalie Laurel Frederickson of Alto, Michigan (Lowell) made three saves for Hope.
