Defender Bailey Berberich and attacker Allison Darnell helped the Hope College women's lacrosse team set a new benchmark for success during their final home match.

On Senior Day, the two contributed to a 19-3 victory against Trine University that gave the Flying Dutch their first 10-win season.

Hope (10-5 overall) also advanced to next week's MIAA Tournament as the fourth seed. The Flying Dutch, who finished with a 5-3 league record, will play in Wednesday's semifinal.

Against Trine, Hope scored the game's first 19 goals and held Trine scoreless for all but the final 4 minutes, 45 seconds.

Berberich, pictured left, helped limit the Thunder (6-10, 2-6 MIAA) to eight shots. The senior from Clarendon Hills, Illinois (Hinsdale Central) also caused three turnovers.

Darnell, pictured right, chipped in two goals and two assists. The senior from Farmington Hills, Michigan (North Farmington) has set career-highs this season in goals (23) and assists (6).

Darnell's 66 career goals are fifth most in Flying Dutch history.

Berberich and Darnell have been part of Hope's first four seasons with winning records. Hope is 34-25 during their careers.

On Saturday, the Flying Dutch relied on a balanced offensive attack with seven different goal scorers.

Three Hope players recorded four goals apiece: attacker Rachel Elder of Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids) and midfielders Paige Wilmer of Columbus, Ohio (Upper Arlington) and Carly Pieri of Alto, Michigan (Caledonia).

Pieri leads the Flying Dutch this season with a career-high 42 goals — the second-highest single-season total in team history behind Maddie Ferguson's 50 in 2013.
