Women's Lacrosse Edged By Oberlin On Late Goal

After a neck-and-neck battle, the Hope College women's lacrosse team fell at Oberlin College (Ohio), 14-13, on Saturday.

Oberlin scored the last five goals of the non-league game, including the game-winner with one second remaining.

The Flying Dutch fell to 1-1 on the season.

Sophomore midfielder Madison McCreery of Rockford, Michigan topped Hope with five goals. Four of them came during the first half to help the Flying Dutch build a 10-4 halftime lead.

Junior attacker Rachel Elder of Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids) contributed three goals and two assists.

Junior attacker Jane Ragains of Western Springs, Illinois (Lyons Township) contributed 2 goals. 

Hope received one goal and two assists from both junior midfielder Paige Wilmer of Columbus, Ohio (Upper Arlington) and junior attacker Paige Rosenbrook of East Lansing, Michigan (Haslett).

Junior midfielder Madison Micho of Grand Rapids, (East Grand Rapids) recorded one goal. 

Sophomore goalie Helen Holt of Myersville, Maryland (Middletown) had six ground balls and made 18 saves for the Flying Dutch. 

Hope's next match is Saturday, February 29 at Illinois Wesleyan University.
