The Hope College women's lacrosse team lost at Illinois Wesleyan University, 14-5, on Saturday in Bloomington, Illinois.
Illinois Wesleyan (1-3 overall) was ranked 20th in the Nike/US Lacrosse preseason poll.
Junior midfielder Carly Pieri of Alto, Michigan (Caledonia HS) scored twice to lead the Flying Dutch.
Illinois Wesleyan held Hope to two shots and one goal during the first 52 minutes, 16 seconds of the match. Starting goalie Janaye Godfrey needed to make only one save during that stretch.
The Flying Dutch fell to 1-2 on the season.
Hope's next match is Wednesday, March 4 at 6 p.m. in the home opener against Aquinas College.
