Elizabeth Perkins continued her climb up the Hope College women's soccer record books as the Flying Dutch rolled past Adrian 2-0 Saturday on Youth Day at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
The senior from Eaton Rapids, Michigan (Lansing Christian HS) scored both goals for the Flying Dutch in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association victory. Hope improved to 8-2-2 overall and 7-1-2 in league matches.
Perkins' first goal came off a header at 25 minutes, 40 seconds of the first half.
Junior Erin Brophy of West Lafeyette, Indiana (West Lafeyette) recorded her fourth assist of the season to join Allie Wittenbach of Ada, Michigan (Forest Hills Central HS) for the team lead. Brophy's 15 career assists are the 11th most in Flying Dutch history.
Perkins, pictured, scored again 5:01 into the second half against Adrian (5-7-1, 3-6-1 MIAA) when she blasted a rebound into the net from 25 feet.
Perkins now has 14 goals on the season — tying her for fourth-most all-time among Flying Dutch player. She equaled Dawn Gillam (2003) and Tracy Phillips (1994).
The only Hope players with more are Tracy Phelps (19 in 1996), Melody Morscheck (19 in 1997) and Gretchen Schoon (18 in 1998).
Perkins entered the week tied for eighth in NCAA Division III in goals scored this season.
For her career, Perkins now has 28 goals. She is sixth all-time after passing Nora Kirk's 27 from 2011-14). The school record of 50 belongs to Tracy Phelps (1994-96).
Hope returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 12 with a 4 p.m. match at Trine.
