Two goals less than two minutes apart propelled the Hope College women's soccer team to a 2-0 Community Day win against Adrian on Saturday at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
Juniors Rylie Dalton of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS) and Hilary Curry of Grandville, Michigan (Calvin Christian) struck midway through the second half for the Flying Dutch, who improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.
Dalton broke a scoreless tie 25 minutes, 40 seconds after halftime by converting a thorough pass from junior Grace Bubin of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford) for her second goal of the season.
One minute, 25 seconds later, Curry buried home a loose ball after Adrian (2-2, 1-1 MIAA) blocked a crossing attempt. It was Curry's third goal of the season.
The offense was more than enough for freshman goalie Jordanne Ellingboe of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven), who made four saves for Hope's third consecutive shutout of the season and her second in a row. She is pictured.
Hope returns to action on Monday, September 11 with a 4 p.m. match at Olivet.
