Hope College's Eliza Beird and Audrey White have swept Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Soccer Players of the Week awards.

The two teammates were honored after helping the Flying Dutch defeat two nationally ranked opponents at the season-opening Illinois Wesleyan University tournament last weekend in Bloomington, Illinois.

Beird, a senior back from Holland, Michigan (Black River), is the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week. White, a sophomore midfielder from Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville), is the MIAA Offensive Player of the Week.

Beird, pictured at left, recorded assists on both goals in Friday's 2-1 win against No. 23-ranked Illinois Wesleyan. Defensively, Hope limited Illinois Wesleyan to two shots.

White, pictured at right, scored the game-winning goal during a 1-0 victory against fifth-ranked Ohio Northern University on Saturday. She totaled three shots during the two matches.

This is the first MIAA weekly award for both Beird and White.
