Meg Peel continues to make a big splash in her first season with the Hope College women's swimming & diving team.
The freshman from Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS) set a school record for the second time in as many days at the Wheaton Invitational on Saturday near Chicago.
Peel, pictured, clocked a winning 100-yard backstroke time of 56.38 seconds to eclipse Molly Meyer's previous school best of 56.50 from 2015.
On Friday, Peel surpassed Meyer's school record in the 200 backstroke.
Peel and freshman Hope Reynolds of Exon, Pennsylvania (Villa Maria Academy) went 1-2 in the 100 backstroke. Reynolds was runner-up at 58.54 seconds.
Peel also led off the victorious 200 and 400 medley relays.
She teamed for a 200 medley time of 1:47.19 with sophomore Paula Nolte of Elmhurst, Illinois (York Community), senior Chloe Palajac of Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn), and junior Sydney Asselin of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian).
In the 400 medley relay, Peel, sophomore Emma Schaefer of DeWitt, Michigan (St. Johns), Palajac, and Asselin posted a swim of 3:56.98.
Palajac won the 100 butterfly in 58.00 seconds. Junior Sara Hudson of Novi, Michigan (Walled Lake Western) also made the final and placed eighth at 1:02.68.
Sophomore Erin Emmert of Grand Blanc, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic) came in second in the 400 individual medley at 4:43.02.
Two Hope swimmers made the 200 breaststroke final: sophomore Erica Slenk of Zeeland, Michigan (Holland Christian) in second at 2:28.63 and Nolte in third at 2:31.21.
Asselin finished third in the 50 freestyle with a swim of 24.58.
Junior Abigail Brinks of Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern) took third in the 500 freestyle at 5:15.06.
The 400 freestyle relay of Peel, Schaefer, Palajac, and Asselin placed third at 3:36.25.
Brinks was fourth in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 18:13.14.
