Abigail Brinks clocked a season-best performance in the 1,000 freestyle Saturday as the Hope College women's swimming & diving team beat visiting Kalamazoo College 143-85.
The Flying Dutch improved to 2-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletics Association dual meets this season.
Brinks recorded a 1,000 freestyle time of 11:15.25. The junior from Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern HS) also won the 500 freestyle in 5:31.41.
Hope finished first in 11 events.

Senior Chloe Palajac of Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn) took first in the 100 butterfly in 58.47 seconds and the 200 individual medley in 2:12.55.
Junior Sydney Asselin of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian) swept the sprint freestyle events — going 25.24 seconds in the 50-yard race and 55.04 in the 100-yard event.
Freshman Meg Peel of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake) won the 100 backstroke in 59.34 seconds and the 200 freestyle in 1:58.94.
Sophomore Paula Nolte of Elmhurst, Illinois (York Community) posted the fastest time in the 100 breaststroke at 1:11.17.
The Flying Dutch also won both relay events.
Peel, Nolte, Palajac, and sophomore Erin Emmert of Grand Blanc, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic) went 1:51.52 in the 200 medley relay that opened the meet.
Hope closed the meet going 3:50.95 in the 400 freestyle relay — behind freshman Emma Schaefer of DeWitt, Michigan (St. Johns), Emmert, Brinks and Asselin.
