Women's Swimming & Diving Downs Olivet On Senior Day

The 25th-ranked Hope College women's swimming & diving team sent out five seniors on a winning note in their final home meet with a 92-76 victory against Olivet on Friday.

The Flying Dutch took first in nine events, including two that included seniors.

Senior Chloe Palajac of Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn) led a 1-2 finish in the 200-yard backstroke by clocking a time of 2 minutes, 00.67 seconds.

Seniors Julia Hines of Vienna, Virginia (James Madison) and Adrienne Smith of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven) swam a leg on the victorious 400 medley that opened the meet.

Hines and Smith teamed with freshmen Emma Schaefer of DeWitt, Michigan (St. Johns) and Hope Reynolds of Exon, Pennsylvania (Villa Maria) for a time of 4:26.36.

Junior Sara Plohetski of South Lyon, Michigan (South Lyon) swept diving with a score of 240.45 points on the 1-meter board and 236.95 on the 3-meter board.

Junior Abigail Brinks of Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern) had a winning 1,000 freestyle time of 10:29.24.

Junior Sara Hudson of Novi, Michigan (Walled Lake Western) posted the fastest time in the 100 butterfly of 1:05.82.

Sophomore Paula Nolte of Elmhurst, Illinois (York Community won the 100 freestyle in 59.04 seconds.

Freshman Meg Peel of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake) topped a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 freestyle for the Flying Dutch by recording a time of 2:00.67.

Schaefer placed first in the 50 freestyle with a swim of 26.44 seconds.

The Flying Dutch honored five seniors before the meet: swimmers Palajac, Smith, Hines, and Sarah Zieschang of Austin, Texas (Veritas), and diver Kristin Janssen of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville).
