Women's Swimming & Diving Sinks Alma For Fourth MIAA Dual Meet Victory

Diver Sara Plohetski and swimmer Chloe Palajac contributed two victories apiece for 25th-ranked Hope College in a 144-59 victory at Alma College on Saturday.

The Flying Dutch improved to 4-0 in MIAA duals this season — with the regular-season finale coming next Saturday at unbeaten Calvin.

Plohetski, pictured, posted the top 3-meter diving score with 233.20 points. The junior from South Lyon, Michigan (South Lyon HS) had a winning 1-meter total of 225.55 points.

Palajac took first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.90 seconds. The senior from Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn) also won the 400 individual medley in 4:42.59.

Freshman Mackenzie Ralston of Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores) placed first in 200 freestyle at 2:12.80. 

Freshman Hope Reynolds of Exon, Pennsylvania (Villa Maria won the 100 backstroke in 1:01.89. 

Ralston and Reynolds also swam on the victorious 200 medley relay that clocked a time of 1:59.28 with sophomore Erica Slenk of Zeeland, Michigan (Holland Christian) and senior Julia Hines of Vienna, Virginia (James Madison).

Junior Sydney Asselin of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian) took first in the 100 freestyle by swimming a time of 56.67 seconds.

Junior Abigail Brinks of Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern) recorded the top 1,000 freestyle swim of 11:10.63.

Freshman Meg Peel of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake) went 25.78 in the 50 freestyle for first place.
