Sweeps of the top three spots in three events powered the Hope College women's swimming and diving team to a 153-143 victory at Albion College on Wednesday.
The Flying Dutch recorded the best three performances in the 1,000 freestyle, 1-meter diving and 3-meter diving during the MIAA dual meet.
In the 1,000 freestyle, sophomore Emma Engle of Kalamazoo, Michigan (Home School) clocked the fastest swim in 11 minutes, 13.69 seconds. She was followed by sophomore Abby LaDuke of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) in second at 11:23.64 and sophomore Paige Kuhn of Dorr, Michigan (Hamilton) in 11:24.60.
In 1-meter diving, freshman Allie Graver of Grosse Ile, Michigan (Grosse Ile) took first with a score of 171.15 points. Freshman Olivia Robertson of Sturgis, Michigan (Sturgis) came in second with 164.45 points, while senior Areal Tolsma of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian) was third with 150.09.
In 3-meter diving, Robertson won with a total of 163.30 point. Tolsma finished runner-up with 147.65 points, while Graver was third with 145.95.
Hope placed first in eight events.
Junior Emma Schaefer of DeWitt, Michigan (St. Johns) posted the best efforts in the 100 breaststroke at 1:08.50, the 200 individual medley at 2:13.61, and the 500 freestyle at 5:23.04.
Freshman Avery Covert of South Lyon, Michigan (South Lyon) clocked the fastest swim in the 200 breaststroke at 2:36.84. Sophomore Aubrey East of Farmington Hills, Michigan (North Farmington) was runner-up at 2:37.09.
Freshman Tarah Lang of Marshall, Michigan (Marshall) won the 200 backstroke in 2:14.32.
The Flying Dutch's next meet is Saturday, November 16 at 11 a.m. against Olivet College at the Dow Center.
