Women's Swim/Dive Finishes 1-2 in Three Events Against Carthage

One-two finishes in three events led the Hope College women's swimming and diving team during a non-league dual meet against Carthage College (Wisconsin) on Friday at the Dow Center.

The Flying Dutch clocked the top two performances in the 200-yard backstroke, the 200 breaststroke and the 200 butterfly. Hope won a total of four events during the 168-112 dual meet loss.

In the 200 backstroke, freshman Tarah Lang of Marshall, Michigan (Marshall HS) posted a first-place swim of 2 minutes, 15.13 seconds. Freshman Alyssa Kerkman of South Bend, Indiana (St. Joseph) was runner-up at 2:19.94.

In the 200 breaststroke, junior Emma Schaefer of DeWitt, Michigan (St. John's) recorded a winning time of 2:32.24. Senior Paula Nolte of Elmhurst, Illinois (York Community) placed second at 2:38.68.

Schaefer also clocked a first-place, 200 individual medley swim of 2:13.78.

In the 200 butterfly, freshman Jenna Kloosterman of Hamilton, Michigan (Hamilton) won with a season-best time of 2:20.75. Freshman Macey Mayer of San Antonio, Texas (Johnson) was runner-up at 2:22.65.

The Flying Dutch also finished second in six other events.

Hope's next meet is Saturday, February 1 against Kalamazoo College. The Senior Day meet at the Dow Center is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
