The nationally ranked Hope College women's tennis team pushed its win streak to seven matches on Thursday by defeating SUNY-Geneseo 6-3 and Hamilton, N.Y., 7-2 in Orlando, Florida.
The Flying Dutch improved to 7-1 overall. The 25th-ranked team in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division III rankings is undefeated against Division III opponents this season.
Both of Thursday's opponents are in the ITA's regional rankings for the Northeast Region.
Senior Carli Capestany of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville HS), won matches at No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles against SUNY-Geneseo and Hamilton.
Capestany tied Nicole Spagnuolo (2008-10) for sixth place with her 64th doubles win in 90 matches. She and sophomore Nancy Benda of Birmingham, Michigan (Seaholm HS), won 8-4 against SUNY-Geneseo and 8-0 vs. Hamilton.
Three other singles players went undefeated on the day for the Flying Dutch: Benda at No. 1, junior Claire Cooper of Williamston, Michigan (Williamston HS) at No. 2, and junior Anna Garcia of Battle Creek, Michigan (Lakeview HS) at No. 4.
Hope concludes its spring break on Friday against Knox, Illinois.
