Women's Tennis Downs Olivet In MIAA Opener

Claire Hallock and Amanda Bandrowski have excelled at the top of the lineup throughout their Hope College tennis careers.

They continue to climb up the Flying Dutch record books together.

Bandrowski joined Hallock in a select group of Hope tennis players to reach 60 career singles wins during Thursday's 9-0 victory against Olivet College at VandePoel-Heeringa Stadium Courts.

There are only 14 60-match winners in all, including Hallock with 61 and Bandrowski with 60.

Hallock, a junior from Lakeland, Florida (Harrison Center HS) defeated Miranda Pier at No. 1 singles.

Bandrowski, a junior from Traverse City, Michigan (St. Francis), downed Rae Claramunt at No. 2 singles.

At No. 1 doubles, Hallock and Bandrowski teamed up for an 8-0 victory against Pier and Claramunt.

The Flying Dutch improved to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.

At No. 3 singles, freshman Sydney Jackson of Fort Wayne, Indiana (Carroll) topped Sydnie Weller, 6-0, 6-0.

At No. 4 singles, senior Taylor LaBarge of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville) beat Keely Cruz, 6-1, 6-0.

At No. 5 singles, sophomore Bailey Chorney of Waunakee, Wisconsin (Waunakee) earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Emily Faulk.

At No. 6 singles, junior Liz Pniewski of Lowell, Michigan (Grand Rapids Catholic Central) claimed a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Alex Lesco.

At No. 2 doubles, Jackson and Taylor LaBarge won 8-1 against Cruz and Jordin Ellins.

At No. 3 doubles, Chorney and senior Erin LaBarge of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville) defeated Weller and Foulk, 8-1.

Hope's next match is Monday, April 1 at Kalamazoo College.
