The 28th-ranked Hope College women's tennis teams won three singles matches and one doubles match against No. 25 Denison University, but lost a 5-4 decision on Saturday.
At No. 1 singles, senior Amanda Bandrowski of Traverse City, Michigan (St. Francis HS) topped Denison's Alex Cash, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
At No. 2 singles, senior Claire Hallock of Lakeland, Florida (Harrison Center) beat Denison's Sarah Robertson, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2.
At No. 6 singles, Hope's senior Liz Pniewski of Lowell, Michigan (Grand Rapids, Catholic Central) defeated Izzy Hart 6-2, 2-6, 10-3.
At No. 2 doubles, junior Leah Newhof of Caledonia, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian) and sophomore Sydney Jackson of Fort Wayne, Indiana (Carroll) outplayed Denison's Sarah Roberston and Sydney Cianciola for an 8-5 victory.
All four of Hope's losses have been to nationally ranked opponents.
The Flying Dutch (1-4) next will be playing on their spring break trip in Orlando, Florida beginning on Monday, March 17 with matches against Bethel University (Minnesota) and the University Wisconsin Superior at the United States Tennis National Campus Courts.
