Jacinda Cole Places First In 1 Mile For Women's Indoor Track & Field At Aquinas

Jacinda Cole clocked a winning effort in the 1 mile run to lead the Hope College women's indoor track & field team at Aquinas College on Friday.

The sophomore from Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS) recorded a time of 5 minutes, 28.18 seconds. Cole is pictured at right.

The Flying Dutch had three of the race's five fastest times. Senior Avery Lowe of North Muskegon, Michigan (North Muskegon) came in fourth at 5:34.09. Sophomore Brooke Truszkowski of Traverse City, Michigan (Central) was fifth at 5:48.85.

Hope was runner-up in three events and took third in three more. The Flying Dutch finished fourth in the team standings.

Junior Chelsea Miskelley of Holland, Michigan (Black River) took second in the 800 meters with a run of 2:23.33. Junior Sally Hansma of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Jenison) was third at 2:25.93.

Freshman Julia Robleski of Wheaton, Illinois (Wheaton Academy) placed second in the 3,000 meters after clocking a time of 11:00.34. Junior Hannah Kenny of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven) was third at 11:12.97.

Hope's 4x400 relay of junior Nicole Kruithof of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian), junior Hailey Pickelheimer of Powell, Ohio (Olentangy Liberty), senior Allison VanderStoep of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) and Miskelley posted a runner-up effort of 4:15.33.

Freshman Jenna Breuker of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Eastern) recorded third-place throws in the shot put of 11.52 meters (37 feet, 9 ½ inches) and the weight throw at 12.12 meters (39-9 ¼).

Junior Mitchel Achien'g of Nairobi, Kenya (Kisumu) came in third in the long jump with a leap of 5.12 meters (16-9 ¾).

The Flying Dutch's next meet is Saturday, February 2 at the University of Chicago.
