The Hope College women's indoor track & field team took second place in the 4x400 relay at the Grand Valley State University Tune-Up on Friday in Allendale, Michigan. It was a non-scoring meet.
Junior Nicole Kruithof of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian HS), senior Allison VanderStoep of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa), junior Hailey Pickelheimer of Powell, Ohio (Olentangy Liberty), and junior Chelsea Miskelley of Holland, Michigan (Black River) clocked a runner-up, non-adjusted time of 4 minutes, 9.44 seconds.
Junior Mitchel Achien'g of Nairobi, Kenya (Kisumu HS), pictured, came in fifth in two events: the 60-meter hurdles in 9.96 seconds and the long jump with a leap of 5.15 meters (16 feet, 10 ¾ inches).
VanderStoep finished fifth in the high jump by clearing 1.50 meters (4 feet, 11 inches).
Kruithof recorded a fifth-place, 400-meter effort of 1:01.06.
Junior Addyson Gerig of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) placed sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 9.93 meters (32 feet, 7 inches).
Junior Alicia Bostwick of Zionsville, Indiana (Zionsville Community) came in seventh in the 3,000 meters by posting a time of 10:56.63.
Junior Sally Hansma of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Jenison) clocked an eighth-place, 800-meter time of 2:22.03.
Hope's next meet is the MIAA Indoor Championships on Saturday, February 23 at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids.
