Hope College's Emily Jackson recorded a third-place run in the 800 meters at the Davenport University Invitational on Saturday to lead the Flying Dutch.
The junior from Grayling, Michigan (Grayling HS), pictured, clocked a time of 2 minutes, 23.46 seconds.
The meet was one of two the Flying Dutch competed in over the weekend. On Friday, they were at the Hillsdale College Gina Relays.
Also at Davenport, Hope's 4x100 relay also placed third. Junior Hannah Huizen of Jenison, Michigan (Jenison), senior Allison VanderStoep of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa), freshman Brenna Bastien of West Olive, Michigan (Allendale) and junior Mitchel Achien'g of Nairobi, Kenya (Kisumu) posted a run of 51.06 seconds.
Sophomore Emily Tyner of Ann Arbor, Michigan (Skyline) took fourth in the javelin with a season-best toss of 33.22 meters (109 feet).
Senior Ellie Best of Portage, Michigan (Portage Central) came in fifth in the 1,500 by running a time of 5:09.06.
Junior Addyson Gerig of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) posted a fifth-place leap of 10.46 meters (34-4).
Huizen was eighth in the 100 meters with a time of 13.24.
The Flying Dutch finished eighth at Davenport with 34.50 points.
At the non-scoring Gina Relays, Kelly Peregrine of Traverse City, Michigan (T.C. Central) finished fifth in the 1,500 meters with a run of 4:54.02.
Achieng took sixth in the 100 hurdles by clocking a time of 15.87.
Hope's next meet is the MIAA Field Day on Thursday-Friday, May 2-3 at Brewer Track.
