Six Hope College women's indoor track and field student-athletes have claimed United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region honors for the 2019-20 season.
Mitchel Achien'g and Ana Tucker are recognized in two events apiece for the MIAA champion Flying Dutch in the Great Lakes Region, while Anna Frazee, Sally Hansma, Hannah Kenny and Chelsea Miskelley received the award in one event apiece.
To earn All-Region honors, an athlete must be one of the top-5 individuals in their event in their respective region on the TFRRS Descending Order List. In addition, each member of a region's top-3 relay team was selected for the distinction.
Achien'g is honored in the 60-meter hurdles and triple jump. The senior from Nairobi, Kenya (Kisumu School) set MIAA records in both events and a school record in the 60-meter hurdles of 9.02 seconds. She leapt 11.25 meters (36 feet, 11 inches) in the triple jump.
Tucker ran to all-region awards in the 3,000 meters and the distance medley relay. The freshman from Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow) recorded the ninth-fastest time in the country in her event at 9 minutes, 54.64 seconds and qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships.
Frazee joined Tucker as an all-region runner in the 3,000 meters. She had the nation's 19th-fastest time this season at 10:00.45 and was a national qualifier.
Tucker also received all-region honors in the distance medley relay along with Hansma, a senior from Grand Rapids, Michigan (Jenison), Kenny, a senior from Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven), and Miskelley, a senior from Holland, Michigan (Black River).
