Volleyball Holds Off Saint Mary's For Five-Set Road Victory

The 18th-ranked Hope College volleyball team fended off a late rally to claim a five-set victory at Saint Mary's on Wednesday.

The Flying Dutch recorded eight of the first 11 points during the fifth set to win 25-13, 25-22, 22-25, 21-25, 15-8.

Hope improved to 6-2 overall with its fourth consecutive victory and 4-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.

Senior setter Sophie Hackett of Indianapolis, Indiana (Brebeuf Jesuit) finished with 54 assists. She reached the 50-assist mark for the sixth time in her career and the second time this season.

Senior outside hitter Haley Muller of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian), pictured, topped the Flying Dutch with 18 kills for the third time in four matches.

Hope received 12 kills apiece from senior outside hitter Leah Dunlap of Winfield, Illinois (Wheaton North) and junior outside hitter Katie Rietberg of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa).

Junior middle hitter Grace Ditzenberger of Centennial, Colorado (Chaparral) collected 11 kills.

Senior middle hitter Paige Baker of Encinitas, California (La Costa Canyon) added 10 kills against Saint Mary's (2-4, 2-2 MIAA).
