Volleyball Splits First Two Matches At Midwest Invitational

The Hope College volleyball team split its first two matches at the weekend's Midwest Invitational on Friday.

The Flying Dutch (14-7 overall) swept Ohio Wesleyan 25-16, 25-13, 25-16 at DeVos Fieldhouse to rebound from a 25-10, 25-17, 25-23 loss to Ithaca, N.Y.

Against Ohio Wesleyan (13-5), senior Haley Muller of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian HS), pictured, totaled 12 kills with a .321 kill percentage to power the Flying Dutch.

Junior Grace Ditzenberger of Centennial, Colorado (Chaparral) added eight kills.

Junior Katie Rietberg of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) collected seven kills.

Junior Gabbi Vachon of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Jenison) made 16 digs.

Hope totaled 44 kills to Ohio Wesleyan's 22.

Against Ithaca (13-5), Muller led the Flying Dutch with eight kills.

Hope concludes the Midwest Invitational with home matches against Kean, N.J. and 14th-ranked Millikin, Illinois. Play begins at 11 a.m. at DeVos Fieldhouse.
