Volleyball Downs Albion In Regular-Season Finale

Katie Rietberg, Leah Dunlap and Paige Baker all reached double digits in kills as the Hope College volleyball team closed the regular season with a four-set victory at Albion College on Saturday.

The Flying Dutch won 25-22, 25-22, 23-25, 25-21 to finish league play with a 12-4 record.

Hope (18-10 overall) will be seeded No. 2 for next week's MIAA Tournament at Calvin College and will face third-seeded Saint Mary's in Friday's semifinals at 5 p.m.

Against Albion, Rietberg topped the Flying Dutch with 14 kills. The junior from Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS) hit .306 for the match.

Dunlap, a senior from Winfield, Illinois (Wheaton North), chipped in 13 kills at a .250 clip.

Baker, a senior from Encinitas, California (La Costa Canyon), totaled 12 kills with a .320 hitting percentage.

Senior Sophie Hackett of Indianapolis, Indiana (Brebeuf Jesuit Prep) collected 42 assists, 16 digs and seven kills. She delivered the kill on match point.

Senior Mallory Luke of Saline, Michigan (Saline) led the Flying Dutch with 22 digs.
