The 13th-ranked Hope College volleyball team rebounded to earn a split at the Elmhurst College (Illinois) Invitational on Saturday.
The Flying Dutch (22-5 overall) defeated Wisconsin-Stevens Point in three sets after falling to No. 20 Wisconsin-Whitewater in five sets.
Against Stevens Point, middle hitter McKenna Otto led Hope during the 25-19, 25-18, 25-19 victory with 11 kills. The freshman from Wheaton, Illinois (Wheaton North HS) hit at a .643 clip.
Junior Ryann Stutz of Kalamazoo, Michigan (Parchment) chipped in six kills for the Flying Dutch.
Sophomore Adair Cutler of East Lansing, Michigan (Lansing Christian) recorded a team-high 18 assists.
Hope served 13 aces, including a team-high four by senior Katie Rietberg of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa).
The Flying Dutch fell to Wisconsin-Whitewater 25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-7. Rietberg finished with 12 kills. Otto had 10. Hope made a season-high 39 hitting errors.
Hope's next match is 7 p.m. Wednesday at Adrian.
