GET TO KNOW

Why did you choose to attend Hope College? It is a smaller college (so I don't feel like I'm lost in the crowd, like at a large college). Originally, I planned on becoming a Bio or Chem major, and I understood that Hope had great research opportunities and a solid science program. It isn't the most important reason to choose a college, but I did like the idea of being able to continue running!

What were your favorite subjects in high school? Biology, Art, and English

Name a role model or models who have impacted your life? And describe how. My parents, and my high school/college running coaches have all had an impact on my life. My parents have always supported me in many of my endeavors whether that be school, athletics, church-related or personal. My coaches have also done the same. These are people who have believed in my potential, and what I can become, even in the times when I am not so sure of what I am capable of. They have taught me how to dream big, work hard, and believe in myself.

List a favorite Bible verse and why it is meaningful to you. I've always loved Matthew 6:25-34. So often the things in life we plan don't always go our way, no matter how hard we try to make it happen. These verses remind me that God is ultimately in control, and that there is no need to fear. He will provide what we truly need, and we must continue to trust in Him.

Where is your favorite place on campus? The Pine Grove! It is so much fun to hang out and study there.

What is your favorite pregame meal or snack? I'm not super picky, usually some sort of fruit and granola bar for a snack!

If you could play another sport, regardless of skill, what would it be? Soccer! It was fun to play when I was younger.

What type of pregame music do you enjoy? Something fun and upbeat!

What is the best advice you’ve ever received? Sometimes it isn't always words that have an impact: sometimes how people make you feel is what we remember. My coaches and parents have always told me to believe in myself, and never give up. I think those are all important things to consider when chasing your dreams.
