Why did you choose to attend Hope College? The Hope community loved on me from the second I walked on campus, and my coaches invested in me before they really even knew me. In short, I immediately felt at home and free to be who I was. I have never regretted my decision.

List a favorite Bible verse and why it is meaningful to you: 2 Corinthians 12:9 - "Each time he said, 'My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.' So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me;" said by Paul begging for God to remove the thorn in his side. It reminds me what to do with my pain and my weakness: bring it to the Lord and trust his infinite grace and sovereign purpose.

What is your favorite pregame meal or snack? And why? Toast with peanut butter; it's one of the only things I can keep down during a race, to be honest.

What is your favorite pre-game music? Phoenix by Fall Out Boy.

What is your favorite movie and why? Black Panther: aptly timed in the context of current events, well-paced and captivating plot, beautiful CGI, unbeatable acting and casting, and IT'S MARVEL!

If you could play another sport, regardless of skill, what would it be? I suppose volleyball or ultimate frisbee. I love being able to work together and see points mount mainly because it is an almost instant gratification. My hand-eye coordination is not quite up to par in those areas, though.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received? 1) If you're competing to please a coach, you're competing wrong. 2) If it's complete and sufficient, turn it in. Not everything has to be perfect. 3) You can't love others if you don't love yourself.
