Women's Cross Country Comes in Third at Muskegon Community College Invite

The Hope College women's cross country 'B' team put eight runners among the Top 40 finishers en route to a third-place total at the Muskegon Community College Invitational on Friday.

The Flying Dutch totaled 101 points for third place out of 11 teams.

Freshman Sarah Grimes, pictured, of Plainwell, Michigan (Gull Lake HS) led Hope with a 5K run of 20 minutes, 10.82 seconds for 25th place. 

Sophomore Elizabeth Stevens of Twin Lake, Michigan (Whitehall) finished in 20:14.58 for 28th place.

Sophomore Madelyn Marciniak of Otsego, Michigan (Otsego) went 20:17.44 for 30th place.

Freshman Cate Peerbolte of Highland, Indiana (Illiana Christian) ran 20:18.50 for 31st place.

Freshman Katie Selenko of Tecumseh, Michigan (Tecumseh) posted a run of 20:19.22 for 32nd place.

Freshman Gabbi Taylor of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Northern) finished in 35th place for 20:23.75.

Freshman Heleyna Tucker of Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow) ran 20:31.64 for 39th place.

Hope's next meet is Thursday, October 17 at 4 p.m. hosted by Calvin University at the Gainey Athletic Complex in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
