A season-best defensive performance propelled the Hope College women's basketball team to a 54-34 win at Franklin (Indiana) on Wednesday.
The 10th-ranked Flying Dutch improved to 8-1 overall with their fifth consecutive win.
Hope limited Franklin (5-2 overall) to 12 second-half points and 28.4 percent field-goal shooting for the game (14-53).
It is the fewest number of points Hope has allowed in a game since a 75-29 win at Adrian on Jan. 30, 3013.
Three Flying Dutch scored in double figures during the nonleague game.
Junior forward Maura McAfee of Midland, Michigan (Midland HS), recorded a game-high 13 points and 11 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season.
Senior forward Hannah Doell of Center Valley, Pennsylvania (Southern Lehigh HS), added 12 points. Doell, pictured, also grabbed 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season.
Sophomore forward Mandy Travera on Winfield, Illinois (Wheaton North HS), chipped in 10 points off the bench.
Senior center Emily Klauka of Holt, Michigan (Holt HS), contributed eight points off the bench.
