Box Score The 10th-ranked Hope College women's basketball team made the last day of 2014 a memorable one on Wednesday.
The Flying Dutch beat tournament host Ohio Wesleyan 63-48 to win the Bishop Classic/Hoops for Hope in Delaware, Ohio.
Tournament MVP Maura McAfee of Midland, Michigan (Midland HS), scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Flying Dutch to their 10th win in 11 games this season.
All-tournament selection Brittany Berry of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grand Rapids Catholic Central HS), chipped in 17 points, including 14 in the first half.
Berry sank a game-high five 3-pointers on eight attempts. She also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds, collected a game-high five steals and dished out four assists.
Senior center Rebekah Llorens of Grayslake, Illinois (Grayslake Central HS), posted her second double-double in as many games with a game-high 12 rebounds and 11 points.
Junior guard Autumn Anderson of Wayland, Michigan (Wayland HS), recorded a season-high seven assists.
Hope outscored Ohio Wesleyan (5-6) by a 34-25 margin during the second half.
The Flying Dutch return to action on Friday, Jan. 2, with a nonleague game at Capital (Ohio). Tipoff is 6 p.m.
