Box Score The 13th-ranked Hope College women's basketball team won its first road game of the season on Saturday with a 72-53 victory at Alma.
The Flying Dutch improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the MIAA play.
Two Hope players finished with a team-high 16 points: starting forward Maura McAfee of Midland, Michigna (Midland HS), and reserve forward Mandy Traversa of Winfield, Illinois (Wheaton Northern HS).
McAfee grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and collected a game-high five steals. Traversa came within one point of matching her career-high for points.
Center Rebekah Llorens of Grayslake, Illinois (Grayslake Central HS), chipped in 14 points for the Flying Dutch.
Hope jumped to a 38-26 halftime lead behind 10 points from Traversa on 4-of-4 shooting from the field and eight from Llorens against Alma (2-4, 0-2 MIAA).
The Flying Dutch return to action on Friday-Saturday, Dec. 12-13, when they host the Post Exam-Jam at DeVos Fieldhouse.
