Box Score Four double-figure scorers helped the nationally ranked Hope College women's basketball team to a 73-64 win against Kalamazoo on Saturday at DeVos Fieldhouse.
Sophomore Mandy Traversa of Winfield, Illinois (Wheaton North HS), scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Flying Dutch.
Hope (13-1 overall) remained tied atop the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association standings with Calvin. Both have 5-0 league records.
The Flying Dutch used a 9-2 run over the final 2 minutes, 27 seconds of the first half for a 43-30 halftime lead.
Hope extended its lead to as much as 15 points during the second half before Kalamazoo (9-5, 4-2 MIAA) rallied. Kalamazoo never got closer than four points.
Senior Brittany Berry of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Catholic Central HS), chipped in 16 points while burying a game-high four 3-pointers.
Senior Rebekah Llorens of Grayslake, Illinois (Grayslake HS, scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Junior Maura McAfee of Midland, Michigan (Midland HS), recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Flying Dutch are ranked 10th in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll and 12th by d3hoops.com.
Hope returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Olivet. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m.
