Assist Record, Late Surge Propel Women's Basketball Past Albion

Box Score

The last of a DeVos Fieldhouse-record 10 assists for Angelique Gaddy made sure the seventh-ranked Hope College women's basketball team squashed a valiant upset bid and remained unbeaten on the season.

The senior point guard from Caledonia, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS) set up Victoria Swift for the game-clinching 3-pointer in a 78-71 victory against Albion on Wednesday at DeVos Fieldhouse.

Swift's shot on the wing in front of the Hope bench extended the Flying Dutch lead to 75-68 with 45 seconds remaining. Hope outscored Albion 21-7 over the final 6 ½ minutes.

The Flying Dutch improved to 11-0 overall and 4-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play with their ninth home win of the season.

Gaddy also recorded a team-high 15 points, nine of which came during the fourth quarter. She made all five of her free-throw attempts during the final stanza.

Gaddy passed the previous team record of seven assists shared by Julie Henderson and current Hope assistant coach Brittany Berry.

Junior Madison Geers of Scottville, Michigan (Mason County Central) scored 14 points. She sank a game-high four 3-pointers.

The Flying Dutch overcame being outrebounded 40-28.
