The Hope College men's golf team is tied for sixth place after the first day of the Carthage College Fall Invitational played at Randall Oaks Golf Club in West Dundee, Illinois.
The Flying Dutchmen shot a 298 on Friday, placing them nine strokes behind leader Millikin University (Ill.) which finished with 289 and holds a three-stroke lead over second-place Central College (Iowa). There are 19 teams in the event, including defending national champion Illinois Wesleyan University which was just three strokes lower than Hope with 295. 
Hope was led by sophomore Will Robson (Grand Rapids, Michigan/East Grand Rapids) who fired a one-over 72. He was followed by juniors Jack Crawford (Carmel, Indiana/Carmel) and Seth Almquist (Minneapolis, Minnesota/Wayzata) who each carded rounds of 75. Freshman Jack Guerrera (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) added a score of 76, and freshman Ben Jackson (Fort Wayne, Indiana / Carroll) finished with a 78.
The Flying Dutchmen are back on the Randall Oaks course tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. EDT.
