The Hope College's men's golf team finished in a tie for seventh place at the 19-team Carthage College Fall Invitational on Saturday. The Flying Dutchmen fired a 300 in the second round of the two-day event played at the Randall Oaks Golf Club in West Dundee, Illinois.
With its first-round of 298, Hope's total of 598 put it 18 strokes back of first-place finisher Aurora University (580).
Hope was led by junior Seth Almquist of Minneapolis, Minnesota (Wayzata), picture, who carded rounds of 75-72 (147), placing him in a tie for 18th place. Sophomore Will Robson of Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids) and junior Jack Crawford of Carmel, Indiana (Carmel) each recorded a two-round total of 149 for 23rd place. Robson went 72-77 and Crawford, 75-74.
They were followed freshman Jack Guerrera of Northville, Michigan (Detroit Catholic Central) with a 154 (76-78) while freshman Ben Jackson of Fort Wayne, Indiana (Carroll) shot a 155 (78-77).
The Flying Dutchmen are back in action in another two-day tournament next Friday and Saturday, Sept. 17-18 at the Adrian College Irish Hill Invitational. The event will be played at Hills of Lenawee Country Club in Adrian. Tee off is 12 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday.
