Men's Golf Claims Second MIAA Jamboree Victory of the Season

Junior Will Robson and the Hope College men's golf team drove their way to a second MIAA Jamboree victory on Saturday.

The Flying Dutchmen fired a team score of 293 to win the 18-hole event, hosted by Alma College, at Pine River Country Club.

Robson (East Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids HS) carded a 1-under-par 70 to share medalist honors with Trine University's Mark Cinavich.

Hope finished 11 strokes ahead of second-place Adrian College. Adrian topped third-place Trine by one stroke and fourth-place Calvin University by six.

After 36 holes, the Flying Dutchmen hold a 17-stroke lead over second-place Trine. Third-place Calvin is 24 strokes back, while fourth-place Adrian is 27 strokes off the lead. There are 72 holes remaining this fall.

Freshman Patrick Michael (Carmel, Indiana / Carmel) chipped in a 73 for Hope.

Senior Seth Almquist (Minneapolis, Minnesota / Wayzata) shot a 74.

Freshman Liam Casey (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) recorded a 76.

Senior Jack Crawford (Carmel, Indiana / Carmel) had a 79.

"Again, I liked our consistency," head coach Scott Lokers said. "This team really cares about each other and the entire team. They grind to post a score for us. They are going to do whatever they can to put up the lowest score they can for that day. We're seeing the fruits of that."

Playing as individuals, sophomore Will Webb (Lake Forest, Illinois / Lake Forest) carded a 76 for the Flying Dutchmen, while sophomore Jack Guerrera (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) shot a 78.

Hope's next event is the 54-hole, two-day Folds of Honor qualifier on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 3-4, at The Meadows in Allendale. The winner of the tournament receives an invitation to the 2023 Folds of Honor event, hosted by Michigan State University, at The American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven.
