The Hope College men's golf team found Kaufman Golf Course to their liking.
The Flying Dutchmen won the 14-team Aquinas College Invitational on Wednesday in Wyoming, Michigan, by shooting 288 and finishing first out of 14 teams.
Hope finished 17 strokes ahead of runner-up Lourdes University (Ohio). The Flying Dutchmen recorded five of the top nine finishers, including medalist
Liam Casey.
The freshman from Northville, Michigan (Detroit Catholic Central HS) fired a 3-under-par 69 to top a field of 84 golfers. Casey carded five birdies.
Senior
Jack Crawford (Carmel, Indiana / Carmel) registered a second-place 71 that included one eagle and three birdies.
Junior
Will Robson (Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids) tied for third with a 73.
Senior
Seth Almquist (Minneapolis, Minnesota / Wayzata) and freshman
Patrick Michael (Carmel, Indiana / Carmel) both tied for fifth with 75s.
Playing as individuals, junior
Logan DeWitt (Zeeland, Michigan / Holland Christian) and sophomore
Will Webb (Lake Forest, Illinois / Lake Forest) shot a 79 and 80, respectively.
Hope's next round is on Monday, Sept. 26, at 1 p.m. when the Flying Dutchmen host the first MIAA Jamboree of the fall season at Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive.
